Headaches, Concussion & Balance
Head pain, fogginess, and unsteadiness often travel together. We look at the neck, inner ear, and visual system so you are not left treating only the headache.
Head pain, fogginess, and unsteadiness often travel together. We look at the neck, inner ear, and visual system so you are not left treating only the headache.
Patients visit Savanna Taradale Wellness Centre for migraines, tension headaches, lingering concussion symptoms, and balance problems that make walking, driving, or looking at screens harder. These issues can start after a knock to the head, a car collision, or with no clear injury at all.
This page explains common patterns we see in clinic. It is not a diagnosis. An in-person assessment tells us what is driving your symptoms and which treatment fits.
What it can feel like
- Pressure or throbbing pain in the head or behind the eyes
- Dizziness, spinning, or a floating feeling
- Light or screen sensitivity after a bump to the head
- Unsteadiness, especially in busy stores or on stairs
- Neck tightness that seems to trigger the headache
Why it happens
- Neck joint and muscle tension referring pain into the head
- Vestibular inner-ear disruption after illness or impact
- Concussion and post-concussion movement or visual strain
- Jaw clenching and poor desk posture through the day
How we treat it
Treatment depends on whether the driver is the neck, the vestibular system, or a mix. We calm irritable symptoms first, then retrain balance and load so daily life feels steady again.
-
Find the driver
We screen neck motion, eye tracking, balance, and concussion history instead of treating “head pain” as one problem.
-
Settle irritable symptoms
Hands-on neck care, graded vestibular drills, and pacing strategies reduce the spin, pressure, and light sensitivity.
-
Rebuild confidence
We progress gaze stability, walking, and work or sport demands so symptoms do not rebound the moment you return to life.
Services that may be part of your plan
Condition care is not a single modality. Your assessment may include one or more of these services.
Common questions
Can physiotherapy help headaches in Calgary?
Yes, when the neck, posture, or jaw is feeding the headache. We also screen for vestibular and concussion signs that need a different plan.
Do I need a scan before booking?
Usually no. If your history suggests we should wait for medical imaging or physician clearance, we will tell you before starting treatment.
