Neck Pain & MVA Injuries
A stiff or catching neck changes how you sleep, drive, and work at a desk. After a collision, whiplash can linger unless we restore motion and control, not just rest it.

Neck pain at Savanna Taradale Wellness Centre often follows long hours at a computer, sudden strain, or a motor vehicle accident. Insurance-supported MVA care is available. We treat the joints, muscles, and nervous system together so symptoms do not keep migrating into the shoulders and head.
This page explains common patterns we see in clinic. It is not a diagnosis. An in-person assessment tells us what is driving your symptoms and which treatment fits.
What it can feel like
- Stiffness turning to check a blind spot
- Pain into the shoulder blade or arm
- Headaches that start at the base of the skull
- Whiplash, seatbelt soreness, or delayed stiffness after a crash
- Clicking, guarding, or a catching feeling
Why it happens
- Whiplash and rapid acceleration-deceleration in a collision
- Desk posture and sustained looking down at a phone
- Joint irritation and protective muscle spasm
- Old injuries that never fully regained motion
How we treat it
Early, guided movement usually beats long rest. We reduce guarding, restore rotation, and then strengthen the deep neck and shoulder-blade muscles that keep symptoms from returning.
-
Calm the neck
Manual therapy, gentle range work, and positioning advice settle acute spasm after strain or an MVA.
-
Restore turning and looking up
We rebuild rotation and extension you need for driving, screens, and sleep without forcing irritable joints.
-
Support a durable return
Strength, posture coaching, and a home plan help you stay comfortable at work and in the car.
Services that may be part of your plan
Condition care is not a single modality. Your assessment may include one or more of these services.
Common questions
How soon after a car accident should I come in?
As soon as you can move comfortably enough to attend. Some stiffness shows up a day or two later. Bring any claim or physician notes you have and we will help you navigate next steps.
Will treatment make a sore neck worse?
You may feel some working soreness. We stay inside a tolerable range and adjust if symptoms spike after a visit.
